Otter Mascot Performer

Overview

As the Inner Otter Mascot, you will be responsible for bringing to life the character and spirit of our county’s tourism by portraying our beloved otter. Your role is vital in creating a memorable and entertaining experience for fans, engaging with audiences of all ages, and enhancing the overall fan engagement at events and promotional appearances. 

Responsibilities

• Convey emotions, energy, and enthusiasm through exaggerated movements, gestures, and body language while keeping the otter’s identity a secret. 
• Represent Otter Tail County in a fun, approachable and positive manner. 
• Be present with a mascot handler at 20-30 important parades, festivals, and scheduled appearances throughout the county over the course of a year.  
• Be punctual and prepared for all performances.

Qualifications

• Excellent physical stamina and endurance to perform in a mascot costume for extended periods, often in varying weather conditions. The goal is for the mascot to have a break after 60 minutes if possible. 
• Flexibility in work hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate the organization’s event schedule.
• Comfortable performing in a confined costume with limited visibility and mobility, adapting to different performance environments and situations.
• The ability to jump, dance, skate etc. is an added bonus! 

Details

• Hourly rate of $20/hour. Vehicle available for driving to destinations. 
• A height of 5’ 8” to 6’ 2” is preferred to fit the mascot costume. 
• Ages 16+ with a driver’s license and a safe driving record. 
• Pick up and drop off the otter mascot costume in Fergus Falls before and after events.

• Perham or Pelican Christmas Light Parade: November 28th
